Mod Cons

We here at the maudlin mansion (ghoulie grotto)have been experiencing some rather unfortunate plumbing problems. As i am a princess and not at all inclined to "roughing It"-( I'm not even that keen on camping), this plumbing crises has led me to ponder the wonders and convenience of modern plumbing.
Had i been born in ancient Rome i may well have been baring my wobbly bits to strangers in the communal bath house- what a truly maudlin thought. I dare say that bubble bath my have been hard to come by. However i could have been enjoying the convenience of some of the first sewage systems, i only hope that i would have been wealthy enough to have an outlet connected to my house.
Had i lived in 14th century England i would have been enduring the unfortunate aromas of chamber pots and the Themes- the unfortunate destination of most of London's waste.
If i was lucky i might have maids to fill my copper bath tub with kettles of hot water.
But i wouldn't have enjoyed my very own indoor plumbing until after 1840 and i wouldn't have had a flushing toilet till after 1880, let alone a toilet in my house which didn't become popular until well into the 1900's.
How i love modern conveniences!
